1. Who hosts the live streaming site and how is it maintained?

Savvy ministries prefer to have their own stream embed on their website.  That way visitors don’t have to leave your website to watch your service, which, in turn increases online giving and general interaction with your website.  However that presents a problem: The regular hosting packages that most churches use, are not able to support the large traffic spike at the start of their stream.  That’s why VLife offers the best of both worlds. We build a customized screaming page for each client. This page matches your website and contains your full navigation and graphics.  Visitors to your website usually don’t realized that the page is hosted by another provider.

VLife hosts and maintains your customized streaming page.  Our “Reliable Cloud Hosting” empowers you to handle large traffic volume without paying for expensive server upgrades, constant server maintenance or having only one person in your organization that knows how to support the system!  Just leave it to us to upgrade, support and maintain … It doesn’t get any easier to have peace of mind.

2. What kind of internet connection do we need to have?

That question really depends on your geographic location, the internet providers available in your area, and the video equipment you own.  In other words, there isn’t a universal answer. The broadcast quality for a church in rural Montana primarily broadcasting to rural viewers with DSL connections may be very different than a church in a large metropolitan area. The simple answer is to get the best possible connection in order to meet your goals and provide the best experience for your viewers. We have some recommendations below, but over the years we have helped many clients overcome different restrictions.  If you aren’t sure your internet connection can support your Internet Campus, please call us. You may be able to do more than you realize. One quick note on networking: Make sure your encoder is connected to a LAN line. This is to make sure that there will be no connection issues with a wireless router or that public usage spikes won’t cause an issue with the end user experience.

Here are some practical connection speed targets:

 For Broadcast Location
 – Internet Campus Only ……………. Upload: 1MB – 3MB               Download: Does Not Apply

– Internet Campus + Multisite: ….. Upload: 2MB – 5MB               Download: Does Not Apply

For Video Feed Location
– Multisite ………………………………. Upload: Does Not Apply         Download: 3M / location

3. Will there be any outside advertising on our internet campus page?

No.

There are no outside vendors and ads.  While you don’t have to worry about annoying advertisers, bombarding your viewers with ads outside of your control, you can use our admin tools to internally market your couples retreat, the special weekend service, youth camp, or your new book right on your Internet Campus.  Think of it as the weekly bulletin for viewers who may not be physically in your building \, but who are still interested in getting involved in the life of your church.  This is one way to help connect your live streaming church to your physical one.

4. Why do I care to have a Tier 1 International CDN?

Having a Tier 1 International CDN has benefits far beyond most delivery networks.  Your capacity on a CDN can actually be higher than the network backbone capacity. This results in an impressive increase in the number of concurrent users your system can handle. The end users will likely experience less jitter, fewer network peaks and surges, and improved stream quality—especially in remote areas. The increased reliability allows a CDN operator to deliver HD quality content with high quality of service, low costs and low network load.  CDNs can have automatic server availability sensing with instant user redirection and can offer 100% availability, even when large power, network or hardware outages occur.  All of this results in the fastest, widest and most reliable Network on the face of the planet.

Quality service … it’s the VLife way.

5. How many complete services can we archive?

On average you can keep 3-6 months of full services on our servers, depending on the length of your services, the video quality you upload, and which monthly package you purchase.

Most people don’t search any further back than 2 months.   If you would like to purchase a bigger package, contact your Service Representative. Keep in mind we’re talking about your video archive being available on the “Tier 1 Intl CDN”, the highest quality, most dependable, and fastest service available.

7. What happens if we go over our allotted data transfer for the month?

Don’t worry! You won’t be nickel and dimed to death. Our goal is to build long term relationships with our clients and that dictates everything we do, including our data overage policy. An occasional spike will not be result in overage fees. If you go over 2 months straight, we will assume that your online audience is growing and that you need more monthly data transfer. In that case, we will contact you to purchase a larger package. At VLife, you won’t have to be concerned that you might get a large overage bill for ministering to more people. Not surprisingly, our clients love our approach and continue to recommend us to their friends.

11. How much work do we have to do to prepare the file to be uploaded?

After the service is over, your video editing team adds the intro and outro and takes out all unnecessary service elements. They need not worry about any special encoding processes. They simply upload the file, as is, and let our automated encoding system worry about converting the file into a useable format. Why make the team work harder and longer than it has to? By default, we automatically create a web video, iPhone video, and an audio for your podcast or audio archive from the single video file you send us. Our encoding solution is very flexible and we are able to created additional file types for your unique needs. If you have additional requirements, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
